The Regulation of the Ports Law (Decree n. 8033)
On June 27th marked the approval of the decree that regulates Law n. 12.815, which resulted from the conversion of Provisional Measure n. 595 and radically altered the framework of the Brazilian ports sector. The new legislation has already been examined by the Federal Court of Accounts in Ruling n. 1.514/2013 – Plenary court. Organized by Marçal Justen Filho and Cesar A. Guimarães Pereira, this book brings together a collection of 28 articles on the new procurement regime, revised and updated to bring practical solutions that will assist in the interpretation and immediate application of the new regime. The Importance of Good Faith in Insurance Contracts
Due to their economic function of decreasing risk, insurance contracts are considered a contract in which good faith is applied at a maximum level, in the sense that its absence may even lead to the contract being null. A brief study of the subject by Diego Franzoni can be read here.
Changes to the City Planning Statute
Law n. 12.836, which was publicized on July 2nd, brought changes to the City Planning Statute (Law n. 10.527/2001), adding a guideline to stimulate the use of new technologies focused on reducing environmental impact and the more efficient use of available natural resources.
