MP and the changes in the Brazilian port sector

On December 6, the federal government enacted MP (Presidential Provisional Measure) 595. The new act revoked Law 8.630 (Port Modernization Act), deeply changed the institutional arrangement created by Law 10.233 (which created ANTAQ, the port sector regulator) and altered in its core the form how port services are provided in Brazil. MP 595 has received 646 proposed amendments and is expected to undergo strong debate in Congress until its final confirmation or rejection within approximately 120 days.
