::New book and course about DPR – São Paulo
Marçal Justen Filho’s new book, Comentários ao RDC, is already available in bookstores. The book examines the Differential Procurement Regime introduced by Law 12.462/2011 and regulated by Decree 7.581/2011. Marçal Justen Filho will also lecture a course on the issue, to be held on June 27th in São Paulo, and organized by Editora Dialética. ::Brazil: Infrastructure Opportunities for the Future - Paris
Marçal Justen Filho will be one of the speakers in the Brazil Infrastructure Forum, that will take place in Paris on May 28th, under the title Brazil: Infrastructure Opportunities for the Future. The event is hosted by BNP Paribas, and will also feature Mr. Luciano Coutinho, the president of the Brazilian Development Bank [Banco Nacional do Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social – BNDES], , and Mr. Bernardo Figueiredo, president of the Brazilian Planning and Logistics Corporation [Empresa Brasileira de Planejamento e Logística – EPL],. ::11th Brazilian Forum on Public Contracts and Management - Brasília
Marçal Justen Filho will also speak in the 11th edition of the Brazilian Forum on Public Contracts and Management, taking place in Brasília and organized by Editora Fórum. His lecture is titled Public Procurement and Administrative Contracts. The event will also featurethe launch of the book International Procurement (Licitações Internacionais), by Rafael Wallbach Schwind, and the 2nd edition of the collection Differential Procurement Regime (RDC – Regime Diferenciado de Contratação), edited by Marçal Justen Filho and Cesar A. ::Monopoly and competition – creating and sharing essential facilities
Since the constitutional amendment promoted in Brazil during the 1990’s, the creation of competition environments has been seen as the best solution to develop the most closed economic sectors. The stimulus for investments in infrastructure and the sharing of existent essential facilities (natural monopolies) has come up frequently. In contrast, the risk of dominant position and the substitution of public monopolies by private ones, which are equally or even more dangerous, arise. ::Public hearing on Concessions and PPPs (Public-Private Partnerships) in transportation financing - Senate - Brasilia
On June 10th, the Infrastructure Services Committee of the Senate will begin the second round of public hearings on “Investment and Management: untying the logistic knot of the country”. The event will include the participation of the partner Fernão Justen de Oliveira, who will address the topic of “Concessions and Public-Private Partnerships in transportation financing”. The event will be broadcasted by the TV Senado channel, starting at 06:00 PM.
::Graduate course in Substantive Law and Process - Videira
In May 2013 marked the beginning of the specialization course in Substantive Law and Process, sponsored by the Universidade do Oeste de Santa Catarina – UNOESC, in Videira. The Mediation and Arbitration module will be ministered by attorney Paulo Osternack Amaral, beginning in June 2013.

On June 13th, Cesar A.
